The Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2026 is 9 to 11 October at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. That is later than the old September slot, and it is Singapore's first Sprint weekend. LTA, in a 4 September release covered by CNA, will close roads in Marina Centre and the Padang from 12.01am on 7 October. Full reopening is 5.30am on 13 October. Bayfront Avenue is on the closed list. If you live, work or stay around Marina Bay Sands, this is the week you take the train.
What Sprint weekend actually does to the timetable
Singapore GP published the 2026 track programme with F1 Sprint in it. Friday 9 October has Practice 1 in the late afternoon, then Sprint Qualifying from about 8.30pm. Saturday 10 October has the Sprint race around 5pm, then Grand Prix Qualifying from 9pm. Sunday 11 October is the night race from 8pm. Those clock times are the ones circulating from the official schedule pages. Sessions move. Refresh singaporegp.sg/event-info/event-schedule/ the week you go.
Sprint is why LTA is fussier about the access lane this year. Motorists can still reach Marina Centre via Rochor Road to Temasek Boulevard, or a single lane on Raffles Boulevard from Nicoll Highway or Temasek Boulevard, except buses and W, X, Y plates. CNA published LTA's Sprint-specific access hours. Taxis and motorcycles can use the access lane except during track activity. I am not reprinting the hour table here. Trains run late. Bayfront is still a walk in a crowd.
Last trains on the North-South and East-West lines leave City Hall at 12.30am on 9 and 10 October, and 12.45am on 11 October. Other lines except the Changi Airport branch also run later. SBS Transit said 37 bus services are affected. SMRT will skip stops. Car parks at Suntec City, Millenia Walk and Marina Square stay open. That is the LTA package. It does not make Bayfront MRT pleasant at 11pm on Sunday. If you have a ticket, walk the signed pedestrian routes and budget 20 minutes more than Google Maps.
Esplanade has already posted limited access from 7 to 13 October. Octoburst, the children's festival, is 2 October, before the fences go up. If you wanted a free morning at the theatres, do it the Friday before race week. Gardens by the Bay sits south of the circuit. It stays open. Getting a taxi to Bayfront Avenue will not.
The circuit park is ticketed. The season around it is not only the race.
VisitSingapore's Grand Prix Season Singapore page lists city programming from 2 to 11 October. Marina Bay Sands is in that mix as At the Home of Champions. The Shoppes, hotel packages and the Sands for Singapore calendar sit on marinabaysands.com. Concert headliners on the Padang Stage, as of the late-August schedule dump, include The Killers on Saturday and Lana Del Rey on Sunday. Zone 1's new Barge Stage takes DJs. Those names move. The race ticket includes the concerts. A Bayfront hotel room does not.
Walkabout Zone 4 one-day passes were listed from S$148 in secondary roundups. Buy from singaporegp.sg. Self-collect merch at Suntec Singapore, Level 3 Room 336, 5 to 11 October if you ordered by 29 September. That is the shop FAQ, not a Bayfront errand. The useful Bayfront fact is simpler. From 7 October, treat Bayfront Avenue as closed, take Bayfront MRT, and do not plan a Satay by the Bay dinner anyway. Last service there is 30 September.
