Bronze sculpture celebrating maternal love by Singapore's Grandfather of Sculpture.

Bronze sculpture celebrating maternal love by Singapore's Grandfather of Sculpture.

The Mother & Child Sculpture at Gardens by the Bay stands as one of Singapore's most touching public artworks, created by the late Dr Ng Eng Teng, fondly remembered as the Grandfather of Singapore Sculpture. Cast in bronze in 1996, the three-metre-tall piece captures the intimate act of a mother holding her child, conveying profound warmth and protection through its powerful humanist form.

Located at 18 Marina Gardens Drive within Singapore's iconic waterfront gardens, this monumental work represents the last large sculpture in Dr Ng's celebrated Mother and Child series. The Cultural Medallion recipient's distinctive style brings life and vibrancy to public spaces throughout Singapore, with his works also gracing Changi Airport, Orchard Road, and the National University of Singapore.

Visitors to Gardens by the Bay can encounter this moving tribute to familial love while exploring the gardens' broader collection of over 200 sculptures from around the world, each contributing to the landscape's unique cultural dimension.
