One of the world's most distinctive theatrical experiences lands at Marina Bay Sands this July. Slava's Snowshow, the Olivier Award-winning and Tony-nominated clown spectacle created by Russian performance artist Slava Polunin, runs at the Sands Theatre from 15 to 26 July 2026. Equal parts playful and melancholic, the production transforms the stage into a dreamlike winter landscape filled with oversized props, audience interaction and a legendary snowstorm finale that has built a cult following across more than 30 countries.
About Slava Polunin
Slava Polunin is widely cited as Russia's greatest clown and one of the most influential physical theatre artists of his generation. He created Slava's Snowshow in 1993, drawing on the traditions of the Licedei Theatre and the Russian clown school. The show has since toured continuously, earning a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Entertainment and a Tony Award nomination for Best Special Theatrical Event. Polunin's yellow-clad alter ego, a wistful, childlike figure in a red floppy hat and oversized coat, is the emotional centre of the production.
What to Expect
Slava's Snowshow is part clown performance, part theatre spectacle. The show unfolds as a series of visual tableaux: a giant web stretches across the audience, enormous cobwebs descend from the ceiling, a paper boat floats through a misty sea, and finally a breathtaking blizzard of confetti "snow" engulfs the entire theatre. The production is largely wordless, relying on physical comedy, sound design and atmospheric staging to create its otherworldly effect. Audience interaction is a signature element, particularly in the Snow Zone seats closest to the stage.
Snow Zone: What Families Should Know
The Sands Theatre listing offers several ticket categories, including Snow Zone seats where audience interaction is most intense. For families with younger children who dislike surprise effects, regular seats with a clear view may be a better choice than buying purely for proximity. The show runs approximately 110 minutes including a 20-minute intermission, which is manageable for most primary-school-aged children but worth considering carefully for preschoolers.
