Baybeats 2026: last night of Esplanade's 25th free music festival

Baybeats 2026 ends tonight, Sunday 6 September, at Esplanade. The 25th edition ran four days of free indie, punk, metal, hip hop, shoegaze and experimental sets across the arts centre. Esplanade's own site lists 48 acts. Outdoor stages need no ticket. Annexe Studio and Powerhouse2 still need a free registration if you have not already booked.

The map is the useful bit. LiveWire sits on the Forecourt Garden lawn, the place most likely to host a mosh pit. Arena is the DBS Foundation Outdoor Theatre. Chillout is on the concourse. Annexe is the indoor studio. Powerhouse2 is inside Singtel Waterfront Theatre. Festival Village spills from the courtyard onto the lawn outside that theatre. Bag drop is next to Powerhouse2, free, 5pm to 12.30am, last deposit 11.30pm. Uncollected bags cost S$50 and move to the Box Office. Esplanade MRT CC3 and Promenade CC4/DT15 are the stations. The building address is 1 Esplanade Drive, 038981.

Sunday 6 September, the last bill

If you can only do one night, tonight is the international closer. Japan's Boris play Powerhouse2 at 9.15pm. That indoor slot needs a registration. On the lawn, India's Bhayanak Maut hit LiveWire at 6.45pm, Korea's Dabda follow at 8.30pm, and Singapore's Tiramisu with The Hype Goblins close LiveWire at 10.15pm. Korea's BULGOGI DISCO are in the Annexe at 7pm. Singapore's Subsonic Eye are in Powerhouse2 at 7.30pm. Thailand's Srirajah Rockers open Powerhouse2 at 5.45pm. Official pages also list T.HIRST on Chillout, Gabba and Chiang Mai's Solitude Is Bliss on Arena, Spider and Klang's Kias in the Annexe.

Programmer Hydhir Ramli's note on the festival site is blunt about what 25 years actually bought. Baybeats has never sold itself on stadium names. The Observatory, who played the first edition in 2002, came back this year. The Straits Times counted more than 50 free performances across the weekend. Time Out's preview put Disco Hue, Kin Leonn, Stopgap, Mediocre Haircut Crew, Indonesia's The SIGIT and Perunggu, Austria's Bilderbuch, Korea's HOA, the Philippines' Typecast and Thailand's Soft Pine on the same bill as Boris. Indoor rooms were the bottleneck. Esplanade&Me members got first registration on 20 August, the public on 31 August. If those rooms are full tonight, stand on LiveWire or Arena. Those are free walk-up.

Gear Market, merch and Beatsverse before midnight

Gas Attack's Gear Market is in the Black Room on Esplanade Mall Level 3, 3pm to 10pm on 5 and 6 September, 18 vendors selling used guitars, pedals, amps and keyboards. Festival Village hours on Sunday are 5pm to midnight. Official merch is PayNow or cash only, no returns. A lineup T-shirt is S$35 public, S$30 for Esplanade&Me. The 25th-edition bundle is S$75 public, S$55 for members. Band merch is only sold on the day that band plays, until 30 minutes after the set. Beatsverse, the Roblox world that launched 4 August with songs by 23 Singapore acts, has a booth for daily high-score prizes at 11.30pm.

This is not a festival you attend for a single headliner and leave. The point, after 25 editions, is still to walk between a lawn, a concourse and a black-box room and hear a band you did not plan to see. Tonight is the last chance this year to do that on the bay.
