Race to Sustainability 2026: Gardens by the Bay's 10th edition, 22 Oct to 29 Nov

滨海湾花园's Race to Sustainability! turns 10 from Thursday, 22 October through Sunday, 29 November 2026. The public programme is free to enter. Selected workshops and the school scavenger hunt charge a fee. Gardens by the Bay's calendar is the source for dates and venues. Clean & Green Singapore lists the same 10th edition as a satellite event, with school hunts from 21 October and a public fair on 24 and 25 October.

Weekend Sustainability Fair at Active Garden, Gardens by the Bay

What is actually on, and where

The long run is an art show, not a race you can walk up to. Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts has five original zines, interpretive posters and a short film in the foyer beside The Canopy ticketing counter, 9.00am to 9.00pm every day of the public window. That is the piece you can drop into after Garden Rhapsody or a Flower Dome visit without a booking.

Thursday 22 October is the talk day. Clean & Green Singapore lists a morning session, Sustainability is Everyone's Responsibility, 10.30am to 12.00pm. The afternoon session, Explorers in Conversation: Journeys Off the Beaten Track, runs 2.00pm to 3.30pm at Flower Field Hall. Gardens by the Bay names National Geographic Explorers Woo Qiyun, Louise Mabulo, Max Han and Melati Wijsen. The Gardens page recommends ages 18 to 35 for that hall, though it says all are welcome. Pre-register. Enter through the Group Entrance glass door next to Flower Dome, not the main conservatory queue.

The school scavenger hunt is a separate product. It is for MOE primary and secondary schools, not walk-in families. Primary 6 to Secondary 4/5 can pick Wednesday 21 October and/or Thursday 22 October. Primary 3 to 5 is Wednesday 4 November. Sessions run 9.30am to 11.30am in Flower Dome and outdoor Bay South. Fee is S$6 per student, which includes Flower Dome admission, and S$6 per teacher or parent volunteer if they want the dome. Registration closed Friday 9 October 2026, or earlier if slots filled. Do not turn up at the Group Entrance expecting a spare team bib.

A Labour of Laksa Love workshop at Active Garden during Race to Sustainability 2026

Weekend Sustainability Fair, 24 and 25 October

This is the public weekend. The fair sits at The Canopy, Ficus Room and Waterfront Plaza at Active Garden, 10.00am to 7.00pm both days. Entry to the fair is free. BCA, CAAS, HDB, NEA, Science Centre Singapore and the Singapore Food Agency staff booths on how they work with the Gardens. Fees apply only if you take a workshop, and those slots are first come, first served. Children under 12 need an adult. Fees include materials and are not refundable once paid.

Saturday's paid slots at Ficus Room include Hand-Made Botanical Soap at 12.00pm, S$25, ages 7 and up; Scents of the Garden incense cones at 1.30pm, S$10 donation to Gift of Gardens, ages 12 and up; and Our Warming Planet at 4.00pm, S$28, ages 5 and up, with a pot of microgreens to take home. Repair Discovery is the free one. edm8ker runs it 1.00pm to 5.00pm at Waterfront Plaza, about 20 minutes per person, inspired by Repair Kopitiam. You replace a plug or take a table fan apart and put it back. You do not take the fan home. No booking.

Sunday is the food and clay day. Max Han's A Labour of 'Laksa' Love, 10.00am to 11.30am, S$10 to Gift of Gardens, traces Siglap laksa from ikan kembung to the bowl and ends with a bowl of laksa. Ages 12 and up. WWF ConservaClay is 12.00pm to 1.00pm, S$15 to WWF-Singapore's Conservation Fund, ages 5 and up. Colours of the Garden pounds leaves onto a handkerchief at 1.30pm, S$10 to Gift of Gardens. Tiny Garden Heroes, an insect walk with The Curious Pangolin, is 4.00pm to 5.30pm, S$35, ages 8 and up. Register on the Gardens workshop page, Eventbrite or Peatix as listed for each slot. If a link is gone, the fair booths still run.

Active Garden is outdoor. Bring water. The Bay South waterfront promenade still has a cyclist diversion from 4 May 2026 while the Bay South to Bay East bridge is built. Pedestrians pass with a small detour. Satay by the Bay closed on 1 October. Eat at Jurassic Nest Food Hall near Supertree Grove, or walk to Lau Pa Sat after 7.00pm on weekdays.
